While addressing the folk at Planned Parenthood (the largest abortion provider in the USA) Obama said that his first act as President would be to overturn the ban on "partial birth abortion".  He said "On this issue, I will not yield."

La Shawn Barber comments:

"In contrast, John McCain, a man I’ll reluctantly, with a strenuous effort, vote for in November, said this about partial birth abortion:

'I will do everything in my power to ban that horrible procedure.'

Now, it doesn’t matter to me whether McCain is a Christian or not. At the very least, he’s against so-called partial birth abortion, and that’s good enough for me. When it comes to unborn life, I will not yield. Any Obama supporter who claims to be a Christian ought to be ashamed."

I stand with La Shawn on this issue.

I was not aware that 2nd trimester aibotorns were available, but I see that they are. I would imagine that you would have to pay out of pocket, and it would have to be a specialist. In my state you can't have an abortion after 12 weeks. I thought states were making these limits earlier do to the ethical concerns and safety. Interesting because if you get to 20 weeks which is considered viable (chance of life), the hospital does everything to save the fetus as a neonate delivered at 20 weeks can not be a DNR (do not rescuscitate). The sites I see do say it is low complications, but as a nurse I can't wrap myself around that idea. The chances of uterine rupture, hemmorrhage, damaging the bladder, have to be much more increased. A fetus this far along would be over 1 lb, have hearing, blinks, sucks thumb etc. I would think that you would be in the hospital for a few days same as giving birth, and that it would hurt like giving birth, you may be knocked out for it idk, they don't knock you out when you have to deliver a stillbirth or when you have a first trimester abortion. I would think that the safest thing to do would be adoption.Jersey's links are very informative, I think that everyone should be aware of what choices they are making.
